Digital Mode Samples
The following samples are designed to help you recognize the different amateur radio digital modes commonly seen on HF, as well as test your digital signal software. All samples contain the same data, thus providing a useful comparison of relative transmission speeds of each mode.
Each recording contains a RSID sample (where applicable) as well as a recording of the signal in question.
If you are new to digital modes or have a hard time differentiating between the different signal types, then RSID is a very valuable tool. Software packages that support RSID include Fldigi (Linux/OS X/Windows), MultiPSK (Windows), and DM780 (Windows). Although not all modes are supported by all three of these packages, each does support RSID and digital operators are encouraged to make use of RSID to aid in proper mode selection and tuning.
NOTE: Although supported, RSID is NOT typically used with PSK-31, PSK-63 or RTTY.
The text sent in each sample is as follows (except ALE, ALE400, PAX, PAX2, WSPR, JT-65A, Pactor I, Pactor III, ROS, WinMOR and SSTV):
